Skill Test: Tent Assembly and Disassembly

Aim:

Assess the participant's ability to set up and take down a tent efficiently and accurately.

Materials:

  • Tent
  • Stakes.
  • Hammer.
  • Assembly instructions (optional).

Procedure:

  1. Store Setup: (Yellow level)
  • The Explorer is provided with a disassembled tent and the necessary materials.
  • The time it takes to set up the tent correctly is timed.
  • The accuracy of the assembly is evaluated, ensuring that it is well fixed to the ground and with all parts correctly assembled.
  1. Store Disassembly: (Yellow Level)
  • Once the tent is set up, the time it takes to take it down and pack it up correctly is timed.
  • The organization and care with which the pieces are folded and stored are evaluated.
  1. Identification of Parts and Accessories: (Orange Level)
  • The participant is presented with some parts or accessories of the store and asked to identify them correctly.
  • This may include stakes, rods, carrying case, etc.
  1. Green Level Quick Repair:
  • A phase is added where the Scout must make a quick repair, such as securing a loose rod or replacing a damaged stake.

Evaluation criteria:

  • Total time spent assembling and disassembling.
  • Precision in assembly and disassembly.
  • Organization and care when packing the tent.
  • Correct identification of parts and accessories.

Additional remarks:

  • You can enter additional factors such as simulated wind or low light conditions to evaluate how the Explorer handles less ideal situations.


This test not only evaluates technical skill in operating a tent, but also efficiency, care in handling equipment, and the ability to follow instructions.


Standard Level

(Yellow Badge)

Standard Test - Explorer Tent Setup and Disassembly

  • Description: Scouts must demonstrate their ability to set up a safe and effective Tent. They are provided with a designated testing area and evaluated on their ability to properly prepare the area, set up the Tent, and then take it down. The evaluation can also include good guidance.


Intermediate Level Knots

(Orange Badge)

Intermediate Test - Same as Yellow Level but including:

Identification of Parts and Accessories:

  • The participant is presented with some parts or accessories of the store and asked to identify them correctly.
  • This may include stakes, rods, carrying case, etc.


Advanced Level Knots

(Green Badge)

Advanced Test - Same as the previous one, including the following:


Green Level Quick Repair:

  • A phase is added where the Scout must make a quick repair, such as securing a loose rod or replacing a damaged stake.

In each call, you can request the Standard level Tent test (Yellow)

Request the Test

Comuonly to the Director or your monitor, that you wish to take the test

Test time

The director will tell you what time you can do the knot test. This is done in the promise circular

1 Possibility every Saturday

You only have one chance each Saturday. Be sure you have mastered the technique at the time of the test

Time

You have 5 minutes of time. If you do not achieve it in the scheduled time or you have made a mistake, you can choose to do it next Saturday, with a penalty of 1 minute for each test repetition.
